THE TEAM NEWS
LEICESTERSHIRE FOXES
- Leicestershire Foxes are coming off their best performance of the season as they stunned the defending champions Worcestershire Rapids last time out as after only managing 152 all out themselves, they produced some superb bowling to bowl the Rapids out for just 119.
- Davis and Griffiths were the stars with the ball as they took three wickets apiece and they managed to send danger men like Guptill, Wessels, Ferguson and Parnell back to the pavilion with just 39 on the board.
- Following that hugely impressive display, there is every chance they name an unchanged side here as they now have the opportunity of catapulting themselves up the North Group where they can leapfrog their opponents with a win.
BIRMINGHAM BEARS
- After a bright start that saw Birmingham Bears pick up five points from their opening three games, they suffered two defeats to Northants and Notts Outlaws but they did manage to snap the losing run by snatching a draw against Yorkshire Vikings last time out.
- The Bears have been boosted by the availability of England bowler Olly Stone after the paceman was released from national team duty by the ECB and he is allowed to play in the Bears’ next two matches.
- Overseas star Ashton Agar missed the draw with Yorkshire on Sunday and they will be desperate for his return as he is vital for both the middle order of their batting along with his left arm spin.
THE PREDICTION
Leicestershire Foxes produced easily their best performance of the season last time out when beating the Rapids as they have been relatively poor up until that game. That will give them a major boost in confidence coming into this home match with the Bears who are not exactly firing on all cylinders themselves. The Bears do have the greater quality and the more reliable batsmen, and while form may not be on their side, they should be capable of bouncing back here with a win.
