THE TEAM NEWS
GLAMORGAN
- Glamorgan sit rock bottom of the South Group with one solitary point from a washed out game and they will have to bounce back and overcome the ignominy of having been bowled out for just 44 against Surrey on Thursday night.
- They were finally able to count on Pakistani star Fakhar Zaman after his visa issues prevented him from playing the opening two matches, and he managed to top score for them against Surrey although that was just 17 runs and he will be hoping for much better against Middlesex.
- The four-wicket hauls for De Lange and Salter will give them some positives to take from the last match and the reality is that they do not have that many options to change things around so they may stick with the same eleven and ask that set of players to bounce back from Thursday’s humiliation.
MIDDLESEX
- Middlesex are coming off their first loss of the season on Thursday night as they fell to Gloucestershire as their total of 148/9 was not enough although their bowlers made the game competitive and pushed the hosts all the way.
- They were not helped by the absence of AB de Villiers who is nursing a finger problem and while he is named in the squad for this match, his participation remains in some doubt for this one and they will make a late decision on him.
- Dan Lincoln came into he side to make his debut batting at number three in De Villiers’ absence and he responded with a tidy 30 from 24 balls so they will not hesitate in giving him another start if the legendary South African misses out once again.
THE PREDICTION
Glamorgan have to bounce back quickly from the embarrassment of being bowled out by Surrey for just 44 runs 24 hours before they welcome Middlesex to Cardiff. Given how fragile the batting looked in that game, it does not bode well against one of the better and well balanced bowling attacks in the tournament as Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Nathan Sowter will relish facing them after Surrey’s spinners tore them apart. Middlesex will be hoping to count on De Villiers after he missed Thursday’s game, and if he is available, they will be confidence and capable of bouncing back with a victory here.
