THE LOWDOWN
KARACHI KINGS
- Karachi Kings were edged out by Quetta Gladiators on Saturday, extending their losing streak to three matches and keeping them pointless so far in the 2023 PSL.
- The experienced Shoaib Malik top-scored for Karachi, but was afforded precious little support within the rest of the Kings’ batting line-up.
LAHORE QALANDARS
- Lahore Qalandars lived up to their reigning champions tag in the first match of PSL 8, overcoming Multan Sultans by one run, in what was a magnificent showcase of death bowling.
- It doesn’t matter whether the Qalandars are behind the eight-ball in a game, when you boast the bowling attack that they do, there’s always a chance of pulling things back, which is exactly what happened vs Multan as they successfully defended a score of 175/6.
THE PREDICTION
Although Karachi Kings have performed okay with the bat on the whole, across their three games played so far, taking on Lahore Qalandars is a far tougher prospect for the Kings’ batters compared to other teams. Lahore should be able to keep their opponents well shackled with the ball and when you also factor in the top order firepower of the Qalandars and Fakhar Zaman in particular, backing them to win here looks a sensible move.
