THE TEAM NEWS
NEW ZEALAND
- New Zealand’s maintained their excellent home record in Test match series as they produced a stunning performance to defeat South Africa in their opening game, meaning they will make it ten successive series’ without losing at the culmination of this second game.
- The Blackcaps were dominant as they blitzed the Proteas to win by an innings and 276 runs and while they have been hit by the news that Trent Boult will not return for the second Test, Matt Henry gets another chance to show his quality having taken nine wickets in the opening clash.
SOUTH AFRICA
- South Africa have it all to do to prevent a first ever series defeat in Test match cricket against New Zealand after they were annihilated in the opening game at Christchurch, the venue of this second and final game of the series.
- The Proteas were woeful with both bat and ball but having been bowled for 95 and 111, it is obvious they need to be much better in this second game if they are to avoid a similar fate and the pressure is well and truly on their top order to perform.
THE PREDICTION
New Zealand were clinical as they blew South Africa away in their opening Test match of the two-game series. The Blackcaps produced a stunning performance to blindside the Proteas and the hosts will be desperate to record another win to earn an impressive 2-0 series success. The tourists will have done some soul-searching over the past week but their transitional side looked out of their depth in game one and it is hard to see them responding sufficiently to avoid a second straight defeat.
