THE TEAM NEWS
NEW ZEALAND
- This series and tour with Bangladesh comes to an end with this game and assuming the weather does not prevent any play, New Zealand will be eager to wrap up a T20 series whitewash at Eden Park.
- The second match was interrupted by various rain delays but they were still able to hit close to ten per over and their relatively young batting order will see this as another opportunity to rack up some valuable runs and impress.
- It would be no surprise to see Lockie Ferguson rotate back into the side after Adam Milne came in for the second game while Todd Astle may also be one to get a chance after missing out on the first two games.
BANGLADESH
- Bangladesh’s struggles in this series continue as they come off another loss in the second T20 as they fell short of the run chase in a rain-reduced affair but there were some positives with the bat at least to ease another defeat.
- Soumya Sarkar produced some spectacular hitting on the way to 51 from 27 balls as they threatened to chase down the home side’s total at one stage but they fell short and they may benefit from batting first to play without the scoreboard pressure.
- It is hard to see the tourists making many changes if at all here given how short they have been in the opening two games and they will not want to weaken themselves further for this dead rubber.
THE PREDICTION
This has been something of a procession for New Zealand as they continue to beat Bangladesh with relative ease and it will take something special or dramatic for them to lose this third and final T20 match. The Blackcaps have won all nine T20 matches in which they have met Bangladesh and the gulf between the two teams remains significant even with the home side resting plenty of key players. Bangladesh would benefit from batting first and trying to post a strong score and put scoreboard pressure on the hosts for once. That could see a closer and more competitive game if the top order can find some form. Even still, the Blackcaps are dominating in every facet of the game and a whitewash victory is on the cards.
