THE TEAM NEWS
NEW ZEALAND
- New Zealand coasted to victory in the opening T20 by 66 runs as after winning the toss and electing to bat first, they posted an impressive 210/3 which the tourists could not come close falling well short.
- Despite losing talented youngster Finn Allen for a golden duck in the first over, the Blackcaps were not phased and the in-form Devon Conway smashed an unbeaten 92 from 52 balls and Will Young chipped in with a quickfire 53 from 30 balls to post a strong total.
- Despite resting several of their key men, the Blackcaps are still able to field an extremely talented line-up and as they look to seal the series, they will likely go unchanged for this game with any further rotations likely for the third match if they win.
BANGLADESH
- Bangladesh were completely outplayed in the first T20 as they lost by 66 runs but it could have been much worse than that and they will have to somehow lift themselves as they come into this second match in Napier.
- Without Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan, they are missing an experienced core to the line-up and that was brutally exposed in the first T20 as they fell to 59-6 at one stage.
- They may consider a change or two but they will also not want to weaken their line-up or throw any other players in who have yet to sample conditions in New Zealand that they are clearly struggling with right now.
THE PREDICTION
New Zealand continue to dominate Bangladesh in all formats of the game and after the mauling they handed out in the first T20, the writing already seems on the wall for the struggling tourists. Both teams are missing some key regulars but it is the home side who have the depth to replace them with quality. With Bangladesh continuing to find it difficult in these conditions, bringing new faces in at this time is not helping their cause in such challenging conditions. With motivation high among the hosts’ squad with so many players desperate to impress, they have to be favoured to pick up another overwhelming victory.
