THE TEAM NEWS
BANGLADESH
- Bangladesh begin their T20 World Cup campaign on the back of some excellent performances this year with them winning nine of their last 15 T20i matches and they will be confident of improving on that record in this opening match.
- Some of the scalps during that run includes series’ wins over Australia and New Zealand which clearly stands them in good stead for this tournament and Nasum Ahmed’s quality with the ball could be integral to his side’s chances.
SCOTLAND
- Scotland did a solid job during their warm-up games for the T20 World Cup, seeing off both Netherlands and Namibia to set them up nicely for what lies in wait but this is a difficult opening task.
- They take on a potentially dangerous Bangladesh outfit but if the Scots are to be successful, a lot of the pressure will fall on the shoulders of the likes of George Munsey and Richie Berrington with the former producing some consistently impressive batting efforts of late.
THE PREDICTION
Bangladesh and Scotland with make their T20 World Cup bow in what
could be an intriguing clash between the pair. Scotland have some
talent, particularly in their batting order, to cause some problems for
the Tigers but they will have to be at their best to prevail. Bangladesh
have shown their quality with some outstanding victories during the
last year and with their all-round talent looking much better than that
of their opponents, it would be a surprise if they failed to claim the
win in this opening contest.
