MI NEW YORK FORM: BIG GAME PLAYERS
After beginning their campaign in imperious form, MI New York really wobbled through the league phase and only scrambled themselves into the top four with a four-wicket defeat of the Los Angeles Knight Riders earlier this week. An over-reliance on Nicholas Pooran with the bat has undermined them throughout the campaign but they, if you’ll excuse the Americanised parlance, ‘came up clutch’ in the big moments last year and will hope to do so again here.

TEXAS SUPER KINGS FORM: THE OLDER HEADS
In the early stages of the 2024 Major League Cricket season, there were concerns that the experience of the Texas Super Kings would actually prove to be a bit of a negative with the likes of Devon Conway and Faf du Plessis unable to shift through the gears quick enough. That theory has been disproven and they will head into the knockouts in a good frame of mind after hammering the Seattle Orcas by 37 runs in their final game of the league phase.

MI NEW YORK BETTING ANALYSIS
Nicholas Pooran was the tournament top scorer and overall match winner last season. He has not quite hit those heights again but his franchise still rely on him for the bulk of their runs. He has top scored in three of their six completed matches this season and always remains a safe bet to be their top batter in any given game.
With the ball, MI New York have a plethora of very strong options and arguably the strongest bowling attack on paper. That said, though, the likes of Trent Boult, Nosthush Kenjige, Rashid Khan and Kieron Pollard have been underwhelming. However, Khan may well have hit form at the right time with 3-22 against LAKR the other day to win the Player of the Match. Khan to spin his web against TSK’s batting line-up with two or more wickets would be a good bet.
TEXAS SUPER KINGS BETTING ANALYSIS
As mentioned, there were slight concerns over whether Faf du Plessis could still contribute a modern and meaningful T20 game as the format itself continues to evolve – those concerns have been proven emphatically wrong. He is the top scorer in the tournament with 264 runs in five innings at an average of 52.80 and a staggering strike rate of 166.03. It would be daft to back against anything other than Du Plessis hitting another 30+ or even 50+ score.
In the bowling department, TSK have not necessarily had the most threatening attack throughout the tournament with Marcus Stoinis opening the bowling hardly an ideal situation. However, after breaking through in the most recent edition of the SA20, Ottniel Baartman has continued his rapid rise and he remains the best bet to be their best bowler in the match.
MI NEW YORK VS TEXAS SUPER KINGS EXPERT PREDICTION
If you were to go off the form then the Texas Super Kings would be favourites to sweep MI New York aside, despite MINY getting a win over LAKR the other day. The two sides met in Dallas mid-way through the league phase with TSK defeating MINY by 15 runs and it would be a major concern that TSK’s preference with the bat would likely be to chase anyway so to win with ease batting first could give them a significant psychological edge. It is always tough to back against the champions who were in a similar position this time last season but, with home advantage as well, TSK are favourites.
