THE PREDICTION

The equation is pretty simple for the Kings XI Punjab coming into this game as they simply have to win if they are to have a chance of finishing in the top four. They have a favourable net run rate but they will certainly want to improve that if they can but winning this game against an already-eliminated Chennai Super Kings is the priority. It may not be as easy as many would expect however as CSK are finishing this campaign in strong form now that the pressure is off. The IPL’s most consistent franchise has endured one of their poorest campaigns but they have won their last two matches since the pressure was off and they are determined to end on a high note. The freedom of playing without pressure has been most evident in their batting as they have won their last two games against RCB and KKR by eight and six wickets respectively in fully deserved victories. Kings XI saw their five-game win streak snapped last time out as they fell to Rajasthan Royals, but their batting remains in superb form thanks to an inspired Chris Gayle and they should ultimately be able to outscore CSK and all but seal their top four spot.
