THE TEAM NEWS

WEST INDIES

  • West Indies were unable to seal the series last time out, falling to a comprehensive 34-run defeat after managing just 159/5 in reply to England’s 193/6 and now have less than 24 hours to pick themselves up ahead of the 5th and deciding match.
  • After being brought into the side to open in place of Shai Hope in the fourth T20i, Kyle Mayers made the most of his chance, scoring 40 off just 23 balls and this is likely to see him keep his place for this fifth T20i, with Hope once again expected to sit out.

ENGLAND

  • Stand-in captain Moeen Ali led from the front for England in the fourth T20i, blasting 63 from 28 balls including an extraordinary seven 6s, before proceeding to take the wickets of both West Indian openers during the hosts’ run chase.
  • Moeen will remain skipper for this deciding encounter as Eoin Morgan remains unavailable whilst he continues to recover from a thigh injury.

THE PREDICTION

It has been a thoroughly entertaining series so far with twists and turns throughout. England’s death bowling has been a cause for concern in recent matches, but were untested across the fourth T20i with the run chase already beyond West Indies. The home side will want to try to take advantage of those final few overs whether they are setting or chasing a target here, whilst England will once again look to strangle them through spin with middle order wickets vital. The firepower of both teams with the bat is impressive and this should prove another high scoring affair. However, the momentum is in England’s favour following their victory less than 24 hours prior to the start of this match, which is likely to work to their advantage. Therefore, back the tourists to overcome West Indies for the second time in two days and seal a 2-3 series victory.
