THE LOWDOWN

NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand have named a 13-man squad for this first T20i against Australia, with spin-bowling all-rounder Mitchell Santner captaining the Black Caps. Devon Conway and Finn Allen will partner up again at the top of the order and are likely to be complimented by Rachin Ravindra coming in at number three. The pace bowling attack should consist of Tim Southee, Adam Milne and Lockie Ferguson, with Ish Sodhi turning leg-breakers.

AUSTRALIA

Like New Zealand, Australia will be led by an all-rounder in Mitchell Marsh, who boasts a plethora of riches to choose from on the batting front. David Warner, Steve Smith, Glenn Maxwell, Tim David, Travis Head and of course, Marsh himself. The bowling attack isn’t too shabby either, with the full-strength trio of Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc all in the squad alongside spin-bowler Adam Zampa.

THE PREDICTION

As strong as New Zealand are at home, the all-round class of Australia cannot be ignored and they will serve the hosts a significant challenge at Sky Stadium. The visitors pack a fearsome power punch right down the order and keeping them tied down may well prove too difficult a task for the Black Caps. Therefore, back the first match of this T20i series to be won by Mitchell Marsh’s men.
