One more victory for India would see them secure the series against Australia and they have three games in which to achieve that win, starting here in Guwahati. Their fantastic batting has been the defining factor across the two T20i’s played so far and this was demonstrated on Sunday, as the hosts racked up 235/4. Half-centuries from each of India’s top three helped underpin the huge score, which proved more than enough to triumph, the winning margin 44 runs in the end.
AUSTRALIA
Unlike the Indian team, not a single Australian batters managed to score a half-century in the second T20i despite many of them gaining starts. As a result, chasing a score of 236 was never going to possible and leaves the tourists now staring down the barrel of a series defeat. Glenn Maxwell made just 12 in his return to the team and he may have a big part to play in any potential Australia revival over the remainder of this series.
THE PREDICTION
Australia’s largely second-choice bowling attack has been dealt heavy punishment in each of the last two games and that isn’t expected to change moving forward, as India continue to look at plundering runs from their opponents whether they are setting or chasing a target. Such firepower and form makes the hosts well worth backing to wrap this series up with two matches still to play.
