WEST INDIES FORM: QUEST TO BUILD NEXT ODI SIDE CONTINUES

West Indies’ last three ODI fixtures saw them lose a three-match series 2-1 against Sri Lanka in the Subcontinent. Ultimately, the Windies struggling in away conditions, but victory in the final game gives head coach Daren Sammy a platform to build on heading into this next set of 50-over fixtures. The recall of Shimron Hetmyer to the ODI should further boost the hosts.

LAST THREE: WLL

ENGLAND FORM: BEATEN BY AUSTRALIA LAST TIME OUT

From an England point of view, most of the focus has been on their recently concluded Test series against Pakistan. But their last ODI series came vs Australia this past September, a well-contested affair which saw the Aussies triumph by three games to two in the end. England were without captain Jos Buttler through injury and he misses out again here, with Liam Livingstone stepping in as skipper.

WEST INDIES BETTING ANALYSIS

We touched upon Shimron Hetmyer above and when taking into account his excellent form in the Caribbean Premier League, it would be no surprise if he immediately takes to ODI cricket, despite not having played the 50-over format of the white ball game for almost a year. Bettors should back Hetmyer’s confidence and ability to single-handedly change the course of a match with his bat. Therefore, consider investing in the 27-year-old through a small stake to finish the first ODI as West Indies’ top batter.

ENGLAND BETTING ANALYSIS

Plenty of England batters will be desperate to make an impact across this series and increase their chances of selection when big names such as Buttler are back in the fold. One such player is Jordan Cox, whose confidence must be at an all-time high having been confirmed as making his Test debut in England’s upcoming tour of New Zealand. The Essex star is a true multi-format player and a dynamic one at that. Backing him to accumulate over 24.5 runs here may prove a shrewd move.

WEST INDIES VS ENGLAND EXPERT PREDICTION

This has all the makings of an excellent series with plenty of runs on the table for both teams. The bowlers on both sides are likely to be crucial in deciding the outcome and whilst West Indies boast some fearsome pace, Jofra Archer provides a level of intensity that exceeds them. Throw in left-arms Reece Topley and Sam Curran together with the spin of Adil Rashid and you have a quality bowling attack. Back England to open things up by grabbing a win in this first of two ODIs at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium.
