Bangladesh beat West Indies by six wickets
THE LOWDOWN
WEST INDIES
- West Indies will need to put in a much improved performance with the bat if they are to bounce back in this second ODI after being reduced to just 149/9 and it would have been even worse if not for a 39-run partnership for the final wicket between Anderson Phillip and Jayden Seales.
- It would be no surprise if the Windies drafted Keacy Carty into the starting line-up in an attempt to improve their batting, whilst all-rounder Keemo Paul will also be hoping to get given a chance.
BANGLADESH
- The expectation was that Bangladesh would improve across the ODI series following their disappointing showing in the T20i fixtures and that’s exactly what they did on Sunday, beating West Indies by six wickets after comfortably chasing down 150.
- The victory was underpinned by an excellent bowling performance from the Tigers led by Shoriful Islam and Mehedi Hasan, the duo picking up seven of the nine wickets taken.
THE PREDICTION
Whilst Bangladesh are far from the finished article, they look far more at home in the 50 over format compared to the 20 over game and West Indies are in for tricky examination on the same ground as Sunday. However, it would be a surprise if the hosts were to struggle as much as they did in the first ODI, especially now they are familiar as to what conditions they could be facing. With that in mind, it may be a shrewd move to back West Indies putting in a much-improved display and ultimately levelling the series.
