THE PREDICTION
England succumbed to a fifth successive ODI defeat on Sunday and in the process conceded this three-match series to South Africa with the hosts now 2-0 ahead. The tourists desperately struggled with the ball and ultimately saw their score of 342/7 chased down with five balls remaining. South Africa captain Temba Bavuma scored a century which will have done his confidence the world of good, whilst no player within the South African side scored lower than 27, which puts into perspective the struggles that England’s bowling attack faced.
Despite the series being over, England will not want to end it having lost their last six ODIs, so it’s crucial for them to at least end that losing streak here. South Africa won’t make it easy for them though, with a batting line-up in good form and boasting substantial depth. With the series safely secured though, it would be no surprise if the Proteas took their foot off the pedal a tad, so backing England to secure a consolation win looks a shrewd move.
