THE TEAM NEWS
SOUTH AFRICA
- A successful chase of 195 for South Africa in the second ODI leaves the series well and truly up for grabs ahead of the third and final encounter at SuperSport Park after they were subjected to a shock defeat in the opening match.
- The return of Quinton de Kock to the Proteas side no doubt had a big impact, as he led the chase with 62, whilst Kagiso Rabada shone with the ball, taking four wickets.
- South Africa could name an unchanged side for this final contest with the only big debate being whether they opt for an extra fast bowler rather than a second spinner.
BANGLADESH
- Bangladesh were unable to back up their winning score of 314/7 in the opening ODI, accumulating just 194/9 this time round batting first, a target which left their bowlers with far too much to do.
- Afif Hossain offered excellent resistance with the bat down the order, scoring 72, but he had precious little support across the order as the Tigers’ top three all failed after having each picked up healthy individual scores this past Friday.
- All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was expected to fly home and miss this final match as members of his family have been taken ill, however he has since decided to stay on and play the third ODI, a major boost for the tourists with both bat and ball.
THE PREDICTION
Bangladesh have shown that they are capable of upsetting the orders here in Centurion, but they will need their top order stars to turn up with the bat regardless of whether they are setting or chasing a target to give themselves a chance. The presence of De Kock vastly increases the likelihood of South Africa gaining a significant score whilst batting and their bowlers as an all-round unit are stronger than that of Bangladesh. For that reason, back the Proteas to complete the turnaround and take the victory here, securing a 2-1 series win.
