THE LOWDOWN

SOUTH AFRICA

South Africa finally got themselves on the board in the ODI series, pulling a game back in commanding fashion. After batting first and scoring 338/6, the Proteas proceeded to bowl out Australia for just 227, winning by 111 runs. Aiden Markram struck an unbeaten century, whilst openers Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma both recorded half-centuries. With the ball, Gerald Coetzee starred, picking up four wickets and polishing off the Australian tail efficiently.

AUSTRALIA

Australia did their best to give themselves a chance of chasing down a daunting target of 339, but whilst they always remained in control of the run-rate, the tourists ultimately ran out of wickets. David Warner and Travis Head had given their side a platform to work with and Warner went on to score 78 from 56 balls. But the mid-to-lower order badly faulted with the highest score from number four down being just 16 runs from tail-ender Nathan Ellis.

THE PREDICTION

Whilst South Africa deserve credit for getting themselves on the board, one collapse doesn’t make Australia a bad side overnight. They’ve been the better team over the majority of this series and a reaction is likely from their batters, particularly those down the order desperate to impress who didn’t on Tuesday. With that in mind, backing Australia to come back strongly with a fourth ODI victory should be seriously considered.

BETTING TIP: AUSTRALIA TO WIN
