OMAN FORM: SCOTTISH DELUGE CAME JUST IN TIME FOR OMAN
After having been bowled out for just 123 from 38 overs, the expectation was that Oman would slip to a comprehensive defeat against Scotland, who in response were 99/2 until the heavens opened. The rain was unrelenting and with the overs required to constitute a game not completed, Oman escaped with a washout.
NAMIBIA FORM: LOOKING TO REPEAT ICC T20 WORLD CUP TRIUMPH VS SAME OPPOSITION
The last time these two nations collided was fairly recently, in the group stage of the ICC T20 World Cup. That game saw Namibia triumph in a thriller which originally ended in a tie, with the resulting Super Over won by Namibia thanks to experienced all-rounder David Wiese’s heroics with both bat and ball. This contest however, is in the 50-over format.
OMAN BETTING ANALYSIS
Markets will be limited for a game like this, so bettors will need to utilise their options smartly. When you consider the quality of left-arm pace bowler Ruben Trumpelmann on the Namibian side, this could spell bad news for Oman, especially at the top of the order. Trumpelmann will likely take the new ball and would represent a significant early wicket-taking threat. With that in mind, it may be a shrewd play backing Namibia to record a higher opening partnership than that of Oman.
NAMIBIA BETTING ANALYSIS
Namibia will no doubt look to accumulate smartly and bat sensibly, although they’ll know the importance of a good start to their innings whether they be setting or chasing a target. Therefore, consider backing their top order to lay down positive foundations with a higher score after 15 overs than that of their opponents. You would also expect a fifty to be scored by either a Namibian player, or an Omani batter over the course of this encounter.
OMAN VS NAMIBIA EXPERT PREDICTION
Although they weren’t on the losing side against Scotland, Oman’s performance with the bat in particular has to have been seen as a worry. A similar showing would open the door for Namibia, who despite not having David Wiese, still represent strong opposition with a number of players who have impressed on the main stage in T20 cricket and are capable of transitioning such skills into the 50-over game.
Expect a close encounter between the two teams, as we saw when they clashed last month, albeit in a different format. But as was the case on that occasion, Namibia may just have enough to edge proceedings once again, especially if we see the same Oman as we did on Tuesday.
