With the first ODI between Ireland and Bangladesh perched on a knife edge, torrential rain arrived to curtail the match prematurely, denying Ireland the chance to win, which they needed to avoid having to go through a qualifying tournament to reach the ICC Cricket World Cup. From an Irish perspective, the rest of the series now has little at stake for them in terms of the result and is more about getting time together as a unit in 50 over cricket. Bangladesh though, will want to achieve victory not just for themselves, but for the thousands of their UK-based supporters making the trip to Chelmsford for the remaining two ODIs. The first match felt like a home fixture for the Tigers and the same is expected here.
