ENGLAND FORM: PRECIOUS LITTLE 50-OVER EXPERIENCE MAY WORK AGAINST THEM
You have to go all the way back to last year for when England most recently played game of 50-over cricket and that was in the West Indies, coming off the back of a humiliating Cricket World Cup group stage exit in India, which saw Jos Buttler’s defending champions fail to reach the semi-finals.

AUSTRALIA FORM: UNBEATEN IN 50 OVER-CRICKET SINCE WORLD CUP TRIUMPH
The last time Australia tasted defeat in a 50-over contest was almost a year ago, all the way back in October of last year when South Africa beat them in the Cricket World Cup group stage. Australia would go on to not lose again across the tournament, lifting the trophy before sweeping West Indies in a three-match ODI series this past February.

ENGLAND BETTING ANALYSIS
With Jos Buttler out injured, Harry Brook has been named as England captain for this series, but as well as his leadership skills, the hosts need his runs in bulk if they are to succeed against the Australians. Brook has already proved that he represents England’s present and future and on what is usually a fantastic batting strip at Trent Bridge with short boundaries, expect Brook to cash in. Back to Yorkshire star to top score for England in Nottingham.
AUSTRALIA BETTING ANALYSIS
The presence of Steve Smith following the change in form from 20 over to 50 over cricket will more than likely give Australia a huge boost. This format suits Smith’s game perfectly, which is why he is still very much favoured within the Aussie side in ODIs, as opposed to T20i games. He boasts the class to hit the ground running with immediate effect and should be backed to rack up 50+ match runs.
ENGLAND VS AUSTRALIA EXPERT PREDICTION
Of the two teams, Australia are far more wily and experienced when it comes to ODI cricket, which is understandable as they play the format significantly more than England. Domestically, England have put 50-over-cricket in the shade, playing the One Day Cup in the same window as the Hundred, where you would find all the England players.
Being able to pace an innings is where the hosts may well find themselves undone here, not to mention the quality of Australia’s bowling attack which should include the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Adam Zampa. Back the tourists to triumph at Trent Bridge.
