THE LOWDOWN

BANGLADESH

Bangladesh were unable to gain a chance to bat in the first ODI against New Zealand due to the rain. Although not having Taskin Ahmed and Mehidy Hasan available did not seem to blunt their bowling attack, who had reduced the Black Caps to 136/5 before bad weather saw the players off and the match ultimately abandoned. Mustafizur Rahman starred with three wickets, Nasum Ahmed picking up the other two.

NEW ZEALAND

New Zealand’s bowlers such as Trent Boult Lockie Ferguson and Kyle Jamieson didn’t get the chance to stretch their legs on Thursday, so are expected to be once again named in the starting XI for this second ODI. However, the batting struggles on a tough pitch in Mirpur did pose a concern in the opening game, with only Will Young resisting well with a half-century, Henry Nicholls also contributed, scoring 44.

THE PREDICTION

As expected, New Zealand struggled in conditions radically different to what they faced in England earlier this month. This isn’t expected to change here and the Bangladesh bowlers may end up being afforded further success in the second match. With that in mind, backing victory for the Tigers on their home patch looks to be a sensible move.

BETTING TIP: BANGLADESH TO WIN
