THE LOWDOWN
SUNRISERS HYDERABAD
- Sunrisers Hyderabad’s fans saw their worst fears come true this past Tuesday as Kane Williamson’s side were hammered by Rajasthan Royals, losing by a massive margin of 61 runs to drop them straight to the bottom of the table.
- SRH’s top order put together a miserable showing, collapsing to 14/3 across the powerplay and it would be no surprise if they were to drastically alter their batting line-up.
LUCKNOW SUPER GIANTS
- Lucknow bounced back from defeat against Gujarat Titans to record their first ever IPL victory as a franchise in their following match and what a scalp it was, as KL Rahul’s men knocked off reigning champions Chennai Super Kings by six wickets, chasing down 211 runs with three balls to spare.
- Many were rightly excited about the Lucknow opening partnership of Rahul and Quinton de Kock, for good reason as the two put on 99 runs in 10.2 overs for the first-wicket, whilst West Indian batter Evin Lewis has surely cemented his spot in the side at number four with an excellent unbeaten 55 from 23 balls.
THE PREDICTION
In the 2021 IPL, Sunrisers Hyderabad were comfortably the worst team in the tournament and unfortunately for them, little looks to have changed despite the mega auction giving them the chance to completely reshape their squad. Whilst the bowling appears decent on paper, their batting looks significantly unimpressive and heavily reliant on a big-hitting player like Nicholas Pooran to fire if they are to post a significant score at any point. Lucknow Super Giants meanwhile, boasts an extremely credible and exciting top order with the ability to blow sides away should they click. The expectation is that the Super Giants will comprehensively outscore SRH regardless of whether they are setting or chasing a total, so back a Lucknow victory in this one.
