THE LOWDOWN
SUNRISERS HYDERABAD
- Sunrisers Hyderabad’s five match winning streak came to a dramatic end at the hands of league leaders Gujarat Titans this past Wednesday in a dramatic encounter at Wankhede Stadium that saw SRH fail to defend their score of 195/6.
- Fast bowler Umran Malik has been a breakout star in this year’s IPL and the pacer almost single-handedly dragged his side over the line against Gujarat, taking all five-wickets at an economy rate of 6.25 runs per over, underlining his importance to this SRH team going forward.
CHENNAI SUPER KINGS
- Chennai Super Kings are back in action for the first time since last Monday when they were beaten by 11 runs courtesy of Punjab Kings, their sixth defeat in eight matches, which leaves them 9th-place in the table.
- Injuries have no doubt played a part in the reigning champions’ regression this year and an ankle injury suffered by Moeen Ali in training could see him miss out here with Indian Deepak Chahar and New Zealander Adam Milne already ruled out for the entire competition.
THE PREDICTION
Despite seeing their winning run snapped last time out, Sunrisers Hyderabad can take plenty of heart from their performance against a fantastic Gujarat side and are well placed to bounce back with immediate effect here. Chennai Super Kings do not come into this encounter in the best of shape due to Moeen’s injury, although Mitchell Santner has already proved himself as an able replacement. However, it’s hard to see Chennai being able overcome a Sunrisers Hyderabad team in such good form and playing excellent cricket at present, so back Kane Williamson and his men to pick up victory.
