THE LOWDOWN

KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS

  • You could be forgiven for thinking that Kolkata Knight Riders could suffer a bad patch after falling to their first defeat of the season, but so far, this seems to be a different KKR as they responded with a fourth win, beating Lucknow Super Giants by eight wickets.
  • Phil Salt has proven to be a brilliant signing for KKR and his excellent form opening the batting continued against Lucknow, his unbeaten 89 from 47 balls leading a comprehensive run chase.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS

  • Rajasthan Royals can really establish themselves as the clear league leaders in the 2024 IPL if they can beat KKR here, with the hosts currently two points behind them in the table heading into this one.
  • Punjab Kings ran the Royals close this past weekend in a thrilling encounter that saw Rajasthan successfully chase down a target of 148 with just three wickets and a single ball remaining.

THE PREDICTION

Quite frankly, this game really could go either way between two of the strongest IPL sides we’ve seen so far in 2024. Kolkata Knight Riders are continuing to impress and show no signs of slowing down, whilst Rajasthan’s consistency is to be admired. In a match that is likely to come down to fine margins, having that home advantage could be critical, with a pitch understandably tailored to KKR’s strengths. With that in mind, backing Shreyas Iyer’s men to edge out the Royals should be seriously considered.

TIP: KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS TO WIN
