KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS
- Kolkata Knight Riders ended a run of four successive defeats in resounding fashion, turning over Royal Challengers Bangalore on their own patch by 21 runs, taking advantage of RCB’s catching mishaps to put 200 on the board, before consistently taking wickets with the ball.
- Eden Gardens has proven an excellent ground for batting and for KKR to record 200 runs on a similarly batter-friendly venue in the Chinnaswamy proves that they are capable of cashing in.
GUJARAT TITANS
- Consecutive wins for Gujarat Titans has taken the defending champions to ten points at the half-way stage of the 2023 IPL and they look well-placed for another deep run in this year’s competition.
- Both the Titans’ last two victories has seen them defend two targets of substantially different size, the first a low total of 135/6 against Lucknow Super Giants, before recording a significantly higher 207/6 vs Mumbai Indians, which was very comfortably defended.
THE PREDICTION
Whilst Gujarat Titans are likely to come into this encounter as favourites, Kolkata Knight Riders can’t be written off after how well they kept RCB under lock and key from a bowling perspective after some big hitting with the bat. However, they were aided by some poor mistakes in the field and Gujarat are unlikely to let them off the hook that easily. Such a strong bowling attack is capable of restricting KKR even with the short boundaries at Eden Gardens and with that in mind, Gujarat Titans should get the better of the hosts and extend their winning run to three matches.
