THE LOWDOWN

GUJARAT TITANS

  • Gujarat Titans put the shock of their dramatic loss at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders behind them by beating Punjab Kings by six wickets, chasing down 154 with just a single ball remaining.
  • Shubman Gill’s 67 helped lay the foundations for victory, whilst finisher David Miller was at the crease at the end to successfully see his side home.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS

  • Rajasthan Royals became the first IPL side other than Mumbai Indians to beat Chennai Super Kings in Chepauk over the last ten years on Wednesday, another strong indication as to their title credentials.
  • A brilliant all-round performance from Ravichandran Ashwin led the way for the Royals, backing up a useful 30 with two wickets at an economy rate of just over six runs per over.

THE PREDICTION

A repeat of the 2022 IPL final, it would be no surprise at this stage if Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals find themselves contesting this year’s final based on how both have started. The two teams are well-matched and it should be a tight encounter. With plenty of experience on show, it’s hard to see either team stumbling under pressure. However, Rajasthan may just hold a trump card in the relentless Jos Buttler at the top of the order and that may just edge things in their favour, so consider backing the Royals to beat the Titans.
