THE TEAM NEWS

DELHI CAPITALS

  • Delhi Capitals successful picked up where they left off in the first phase of the IPL, comfortably defeating Sunrisers Hyderabad by eight wickets with South African fast bowling duo Anrich Nortje and Kagiso Rabada shining with five wickets between them.
  • Batter Shreyas Iyer made his first appearance since suffering an injury playing for India against England, which left no place for Australian Steve Smith, who will be hoping for an opportunity here.

RAJASTHAN ROYALS

  • After looking like they were set for defeat against Punjab Kings, an incredible final over from Kartik Tyagi saw him take two wickets and successfully defend four runs, dragging Rajasthan Royals to an unbelievable two-run victory.
  • The decision to throw West Indian Evin Lewis straight into the side was a good one as he hit 36 runs from 21 balls, forming a 54-run partnership with fellow opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and this partnership is expected to now be retained across the remainder of the competition.

THE PREDICTION

Rajasthan Royals has no right to come out on top against Punjab Kings after chasing the game throughout the entirety of the Kings’ run chase. However, an over of magic saw the come out on top and they’ll be hoping that the momentum they will have garnered through such a win will stand them in good stead here. However, Delhi Capitals are a classy unit full of strength-in-depth who certainly won’t throw victory away in the same manner Punjab did. With Shreyas Iyer back in the side, Delhi look even stronger than they were in the first phase of the IPL and are expected to prove too good for Rajasthan over the course of this one, ultimately emerging victorious.
