England’s ‘B Team’, for want of a better phrase, dispatched of Ireland the other day in the second of a three-match ODI series, with the first game washed out. The purpose of this squad and series for England was to deepen their selection pool and that is what they are expected to do with some rotation but they should keep a strong eleven.
IRELAND
Ireland are building towards the 2024 T20 World Cup so any meaningful cricket against a leading nation will be treated as important preparation. They can also make sure the series finishes as a draw so there is actually a fair bit riding on it for Andrew Balbirnie’s men for this third and final ODI.
THE PREDICTION
As mentioned, England could name a very, very weak team and beat most teams. In fact, if a weakened side played in the World Cup in a couple of weeks then they'd expected to come in a top four spot, such is the strength in depth that the hosts have. Ireland will compete, and as mentioned, this game does matter for them but England should win quite comfortably once again.
