TRINBAGO KNIGHT RIDERS FORM: VICTORY AGAINST GUYANA NOT ENOUGH TO AVOID ELIMINATOR
Despite Trinbago Knight Riders thumping Guyana Amazon Warriors by 74 runs in their final game of the league stage, they couldn’t overturn the net-run-rate swing required to break into the top two. That leaves last year’s runners-up facing a do-or-die encounter here.
BARBADOS ROYALS FORM: FOURTH-PLACE SECURED WITH AN EVEN RECORD
Barbados Royals ended the league stage in fourth-place with a total record of five wins and five defeats. However, they enter the play-offs with no momentum behind them and severely lacking in confidence having lost each of their last four games.
TRINBAGO KNIGHT RIDERS BETTING ANALYSIS
It bodes well for Trinbago Knight Riders that Nicholas Pooran is heating up at just the right time ahead of the business end of this year’s Caribbean Premier League. The West Indies superstar smoked 101 from 59 balls against Guyana, beating his previous two best scores of 93 and 97 in the league stage. With 413 runs across ten innings, only Quinton de Kock has accumulated more runs and backing Pooran to record another score of 30+ here has to be favoured.
BARBADOS ROYALS BETTING ANALYSIS
If Barbados Royals are to break their losing streak and get the better of Trinbago Knight Riders here, they will most likely need the top scorer across the entire tournament so far to put up a large individual score. Opening the batting, Quinton de Kock has piled up 434 runs over the course of his ten innings and is the only player in the competition to average above 50. Back the South African to finish as his side’s top batter in the eliminator.
TRINBAGO KNIGHT RIDERS VS BARBADOS ROYALS EXPERT PREDICTION
Trinbago Knight Riders come into the eliminator with all the momentum and also a recent win over Barbados Royals, having beaten them by 30 runs in late September. Whilst the play-offs represent a fresh start for both sides, it’s hard to see the Royals managing to turn things around when considering the short time between the league stage and the eliminator. They appear too reliant on De Kock with the bat and their bowlers are unlikely to keep Trinbago quiet. With that in mind, back the Knight Riders to move on into the second qualifier.
