THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY SIXERS

  • Sydney Sixers has not made the start to 2022 that they would have wanted having had one match abandoned due to rain, one match postponed due to a Covid-19 outbreak among the opposition and a defeat at the hands of Perth Scorchers, their opponents here.
  • English opening batter James Vince has returned to England in preparation for his upcoming international commitments and won’t be available for this match and the rest of the competition.

PERTH SCORCHERS

  • Perth Scorchers have enjoyed an excellent BBL campaign but appear to have found their nemesis in Sydney Thunder who beat them for a second time on Thursday and remain the only side to have overcome the Scorchers in this season’s BBL.
  • Big hitting batter Colin Munro took a knock to the knee whilst fielding against the Thunder, but managed to complete the match and he should be fine to feature here, whilst the Scorchers are expected to remain without Mitchell Marsh and Josh Inglis

THE PREDICTION

Both these two sides will be missing key players here in this top of the table clash although the Scorchers are the fresher of the two having already played three times this month, whilst the Sixers have featured just once in comparison through a combination of factors. A positive reaction is expected from Perth following their defeat the hands of Sydney Thunder and the last time these two teams clashed, it was Ashton Turner’s men who came out on top. They proved in that match that they are more than capable of coping without the likes of Marsh and Inglis, whilst it remains to be seen how Sydney Sixers cope without Vince, although his runs are expected to be missed. With that in mind, consider backing Perth Scorchers to edge what is likely to prove a tight affair.
