THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY SIXERS

  • Defending BBL champions Sydney Sixes made it two wins from two this season with a hard-fought 14-run triumph against Hobart Hurricanes this past Wednesday after successfully defending a score of 144/9 after losing the toss.
  • After featuring in their opening match against Melbourne Stars, Sean Abbott did not play against Hobart on Wednesday due to Australian A duty and is expected to miss out once again here.

HOBART HURRICANES

  • Hobart Hurricanes held their own against Sydney Sixers last time out, but the lack of support for batter Peter Handscomb ultimately proved their downfall and is an area they must improve upon in Sydney.
  • Bowler Scott Boland remains unavailable for the Hurricanes due to Australia A commitments, whilst Riley Meredith is not expected to overcome a hamstring injury in time to feature in this one.

THE PREDICTION

The last time Sydney Sixers played at home, they demolished Melbourne Stars by 152 runs. Whilst Hobart Hurricanes should put up far more of a fight in comparison, they appear to lack both the experience and batting depth that the Sixers boast within their side, making this match a real tall order for them. Should the likes of Matthew Wade or Tim David fire with the bat then the visitors stand a chance when taking into account how fast they can accumulate boundaries when on song. However, with the stronger all-round team and home advantage being in their favour, another Sydney Sixers win ultimately looks to be on the cards.
