THE TEAM NEWS

SYDNEY SIXERS

  • Sydney Sixers’ strong start to the Big Bash League continued as they made it five wins from six with their third successive victory last time out, getting the better of Sydney rivals the Thunder in a weather-affected contest.
  • The Sixers secured a 30-run success via the D/L method with their bowling unit working in tandem to earn that win, bowling the dangerous batting line-up for 142 as they attempted to chase down a revised target of 173.

BRISBANE HEAT

  • Just like last season, Brisbane Heat have struggled at the start of this new campaign after they were unable to build on their win over Adelaide Strikers as they were beaten by Melbourne Stars’ superb effort with the bat.
  • The Stars posted 207/9 and while the Heat did everything they could to chase that total down, it ultimately proved to be too much as they succumbed to a 20-run loss but Chris Lynn’s 57 was a timely reminder of what he is capable of.

THE PREDICTION

Brisbane Heat desperately need to find some form if they are to compete for the Big Bash League trophy having won just two of their six games in the competition so far. They put in a valiant fight last time out against Melbourne Stars but chasing a formidable total eventually took its toll and they fell 20 runs short. They now head to Sydney to face the in-form Sixers who have lost just one of their six games to begin the BBL. They have also won their last three so it would be a surprise if the hosts slipped up in this one with them performing so well with both bat and ball.
