THE TEAM NEWS
PERTH SCORCHERS
- Perth Scorchers finished top of the pile in the Big Bash League but it will count for little if they fail to go on and win the tournament from here having comfortably outperformed the rest of the competition so far with 11 wins from their 14 matches.
- The Scorchers’ roster is littered with talent and with Mitch Marsh producing some scintillating displays in his six games so far and he is likely to be integral to his side’s chances of making the final.
SYDNEY SIXERS
- Sydney Sixers made it three wins from four to finish the round robin stage of the BBL and with their 27-run win over Brisbane Heat, the defending champions were able to secure second spot on the ladder.
- The Sixers boast some incredible batting talent but they have been handed a big blow with the news that Steve Smith has been ruled out with Cricket Australia deeming that he is ineligible.
THE PREDICTION
Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers will do battle in the Qualifier for a spot in the Big Bash League final. The Scorchers have been the best team in this year’s tournament having lost just three of their games and they will be confident of overcoming the reigning champions having already defeated them twice during the round robin. The Sixers boast plenty of quality and they will know that they are capable of victory but the consistency of the Scorchers is difficult to overlook and the Perth outfit should be able to get the job done.
