THE TEAM NEWS

MELBOURNE RENEGADES

  • Melbourne Renegades’ victory over Adelaide Strikers in their opening game of this year’s Big Bash League remains their only win so far after they suffered a fourth consecutive loss last time out.
  • Perth Scorchers made it back-to-back wins over the Renegades who were outclassed in all departments in both of those games and the pressure is already mounting to get back to winning ways.

HOBART HURRICANES

  • Hobart Hurricanes were able to build on their eye-catching success against Melbourne Stars by seeing off Adelaide Strikers in impressive fashion to make it back-to-back victories in the BBL.
  • Chasing 176 to win, the Hurricanes achieved that feat with nine balls to spare with that being largely thanks to the efforts of Ben McDermott who whacked an incredible 110 not out from just 60 deliveries.

THE PREDICTION

Melbourne Renegades’ lack of quality in their squad is really starting to tell having lost for a fourth game in succession last time out. With the halfway stage of the round-robin not too far away, time is already running out for them to make a push for the knockout phase of the competition and another loss here could be extremely damaging for the side at the foot of the ladder. They take on a Hobart Hurricanes side that have performed superbly in their last two outings and with a top order to match anyone in the tournament, they can turn on the style again to record a third successive victory.
