THE TEAM NEWS
HOBART HURRICANES
- Hobart Hurricanes went into Christmas very happy after securing a 24-run victory over Melbourne Stars, ending a two-match losing streak in the process and despite incurring a bizarre five-run penalty following a short run by Tim David.
- The likelihood following such a promising win is that the Hurricanes won’t look to change anything in terms of team selection unless their hand is forced by any injuries.
ADELAIDE STRIKERS
- Adelaide Strikers succumbed to the Brisbane Heat in their latest BBL fixture and have now lost three consecutive matches, although they are still in a stable position having gained four bonus points, the same number as Hobart.
- The form of some key players especially with the bat has been a huge worry for the Strikers and the likes of Matt Renshaw and Jake Weatherald need to step up at the top of the order here, or be replaced.
THE PREDICTION
Hobart Hurricanes have shown signs that they could be a contender for the title come the latter part of this BBL season, but consistency has been lacking and this needs to be addressed for them to really progress. It’s worth mentioning however, that two of Hobart’s three defeats so far have come against the undefeated Perth Scorchers with the other against Sydney Sixers, each of those two sides having established themselves as comfortably the best two teams in the competition thus far. Adelaide Strikers in comparison, are a far inferior unit and the Hurricanes with home advantage in their favour should be able to stamp their authority on this game early on whether bat or ball, eventually going on to secure the win against a team out of form and low on confidence.
