THE LOWDOWN

HOBART HURRICANES

  • Hobart Hurricanes suffered just their second loss of BBL|10 as they failed to get the better of Brisbane Heat in their latest contest but they will have the opportunity to earn immediate retribution here.
  • Hobart failed to fire with the bat as none of their players were able to surpass 30 and despite several making promising starts, it was not enough as they stuttered their way to 148/7.
  • In response, the Heat made light work of the chase as they surpassed their target with 16 balls to spare and now the Hurricanes must deal with the loss of James Faulkner who is out with a hamstring injury.

BRISBANE HEAT

  • Brisbane Heat earned their maiden win of the tournament as they overcame Hobart Hurricanes and they will hope to build on that as they take on the same opposition for the second time in quick succession.
  • The Heat took regular wickets with debutant Lewis Gregory standing out with 3-22 as Brisbane were able to restrict the Hurricanes to 148 runs and an opening partnership of 73 between Max Bryant (31) and Sam Heazlett (48) ensured they got off to a good start.
  • That set the tone for the rest of the chase as they reached their target with ease and they will be able to boost their batting options further with the addition of England international Joe Denly who could make his first appearance of BBL|10.

THE PREDICTION

Hobart Hurricanes will be eager to put their loss to Brisbane Heat behind them as quickly as possible as the two teams do battle for the second game in succession. The Hurricanes’ impressive top three of D’Arcy Short, Ben McDermott and Dawid Malan failed to get going and they will need more from that trio if they are to respond. The Heat will be full of confidence having earned their first win of the tournament but they must match their efforts with both bat and ball in this contest and they will have to do so with the continued absence of the injured Chris Lynn. There is a higher ceiling for the Hurricanes and if they can produce more with the bat this time around, Hobart should be able to gain revenge for their loss at the weekend.
