THE PREDICTION
Sri Lanka’s preparation for the 2023 Asia Cup has been dogged by injuries, particularly to their bowling pack and leaves them in far from good shape going into this first match. The biggest injury loss is that of Wanindu Hasaranga, the all-rounder having just starred in the 2023 Lanka Premier League with both bat and ball. Bangladesh will also be missing key personnel such as Litton Das and Ebadot Hossain, but the feeling is that they won’t be as badly affected as their opponents on the injury front. It cannot be stressed enough how much Sri Lanka will miss Hasaranga in particular and head coach Chris Silverwood will most likely have to alter his side’s game-plan. With that in mind, backing Bangladesh to get the better of Sri Lanka looks a shrewd move.
