THE TEAM NEWS
BANGLADESH
- Bangladesh failed to build on a solid effort with both bat and ball in the first innings of their clash with Pakistan as they succumbed to what turned into a very heavy loss in their first Test match of the two-game series.
- Liton Das starred with the bat as he notched a brilliant century while Taijul Islam was sensational with the ball as he finished with figures of 7-116 in the opening innings and that pair are likely to be key once again.
PAKISTAN
- Pakistan produced the goods to earn an impressive eight-wicket win over Bangladesh in their opening match and they will be looking to complete a whitewash here by recording another success.
- Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hasan Ali were able to shine with the ball having taken seven wickets apiece but it was the efforts of Abid Ali, who recorded scores of 133 and 91, that really caught the eye to claim the Player of the Match award.
THE PREDICTION
Bangladesh certainly played their part in an intriguing tussle in
their opening Test match with Pakistan but the tourists’ quality shone
through to claim the victory. The hosts started well and held the lead
at the halfway point of the match but they could not back that up in the
second innings as they succumbed to defeat. Pakistan were thankful to
some brilliant individual performances and with the bowling prowess of
Shaheen Shah Afridi and Hasan Ali, they can prove to be too good once
again this second deciding contest.
