THE LOWDOWN
BANGLADESH
After a washed out first ODI in Mirpur, Bangladesh continued to exploit home conditions and hold New Zealand to a low score. They had the Kiwis 136-5 before the rain and then bowled them out for 254 in 41.1 overs in the second ODI. However, their batting let them down and they eventually fell to a heavy defeat the other day.
NEW ZEALAND
New Zealand managed to win that second ODI by 86 runs with the visitors bowling Bangladesh out for 168 in 41.1 overs, ironically, and Ish Sodhi dominating with his leg-spin, picking up six wickets. New Zealand’s preparations for the World Cup haven’t been serene but they remain a team that are extremely difficult to play against.
THE PREDICTION
The toss in cricket remains, arguably, the most important facet of the game – but there is actually a favourite for the result, regardless of the toss, in this one. Bangladesh will put the other day down to a bad day and consider themselves more than capable of notching a winning total on any surface, especially in Asia and at home. New Zealand relied on a Bangladesh collapse and magnificent Sodhi bowing performance so law of averages suggests a Bangladesh win.
