THE PREDICTION
Worcestershire kept alive their hopes of finishing in the top two of Group 1 after beating Derbyshire by an innings and 23 runs in their most recent County Championship fixture. Durham meanwhile, were beaten at home by Essex in a blow to their chances, meaning that failure to win here for either one of these two sides could well prove the death knell for their top two prospects. New Road is a predominantly flat track and both teams know that taking 20 wickets here will not be easy.
Durham will be without fast bowler Mark Wood due to England duty and all-rounder Ben Stokes through injury, whilst Worcestershire have a slim chance of Moeen Ali being made available by the ECB. This contest is likely to depend on whether Durham’s batting led by Australian overseas opening Cameron Bancroft can back up their reliable bowling unit. If they can, then it may just lead to a narrow Durham victory here so consider the visitors draw no bet.
