THE LOWDOWN
MINISTER GROUP RAJSHAHI
- It has been two wins from two for Minister Group Rajshahi as they have edged past Dhaka and Khulna in what has been an excellent start to this edition of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup.
- Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto led from the front last time out against Khulna with a half century but the most pleasing aspect was the contributions from a number of players which is always key to success in this format.
- They have named an unchanged line-up in both of their matches so far and there is every chance they will do the same here for a third consecutive game as they prepare to face Fortune Barisal.
FORTUNE BARISHAL
- Fortune Barisal contrived to lose their first match in the competition as they failed to defend 22 in the final over against Khulna as Mehedi Hasan Miraz was smashed for four sixes in five balls to let slip from a winning position.
- There were some positives to take for the team considered by many to be the weakest in the tournament as Parvez Hossain Emon’s fifty and Taskin Ahmed’s two early wickets put them in with a great chance of winning but they fell narrowly short.
- It is hard to imagine they will make many changes if at all to the eleven that came so close to victory in that opening match especially given the lack of depth in their squad so the same line-up is expected.
THE PREDICTION
Rajshahi have made a strong start to the tournament by winning their opening two games and they have to be favoured to make it three from three against Fortune Barisal here. Barisal came within a whisker of a shock win over Khulna in their opening game but they could not quite seal the victory. That would have been some achievement for them as they do have one, if not, the weakest side on paper. They could spring an upset at any point as they do possess a couple of outstanding players but they lack the depth overall and against a team like Rajshahi who have plenty of their players in good form and making contributions, Rajshahi should pick up a comfortable win.
