Como Preview: Cesc’s Como
Como’s 23 matches have consisted of 65 goals as they head into the 24th match day of the 2024/25 Serie A campaign sitting a couple of points outside of the bottom three and the relegation places with an impressive and entertaining style of football.
The hosts have spent a lot of money throughout the campaign and they continued that during the January transfer window. That hasn’t brought about an improvement in form yet, though, with a 2-0 loss to Bologna last week meaning they have lost three of their last four matches.
Juventus Preview: Frustrated Old Lady
Thiago Motta’s Juventus begin the weekend sitting just outside of the top four and the UEFA Champions League qualification spots. The Bianconeri suffered their first defeat of the Serie A campaign a couple of weeks ago with too many draws holding them back from a title race.
They recovered from their defeat to Napoli, which was followed by a loss at home to Benfica in the UEFA Champions League, by hammering Empoli by four goals to one, coming from behind with four second-half strikes including a brace scored by new signing Randal Kolo Muani.
Como Team News: Fadera suspension
One of those aforementioned new signings, Dele Alli, is still a doubt as he builds up his fitness with other key signings Assane Diao and Maxence Caqueret both key men now. They remain without winger Alieu Fadera as he is missing through suspension for this one.
Predicted XI (4-1-4-1): Butez; Engelhardt, Goldaniga, Dossena, Alex Valle; Maximo Perrone; Diao, Caqueret, Nico Paz, Ikone; Cutrone
Unavailable: Kempf (Injured), Vojvoda (Injured), Van der Brempt (Injured), Alberto Moreno (Injured), Sergi Roberto (Injured), Fadera (Suspended), Gabrielloni (Injured)
Questionable: Alli (Injured)
Juventus Team News: Cambiaso a doubt
Reported target for Manchester City, Italy international Andrea Cambiaso is an injury doubt due to an ankle issue. They are also still dealing with several defensive injuries, such as Bremer and Pierre Kalulu, but have brought in the likes of Renato Veiga and Lloyd Kelly during the window.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Weah, Gatti, Veiga, Savona; Locatelli, Koopmeiners; Gonzalez, McKennie, Yildiz; Kolo Muani
Unavailable: Bremer (Injured), Kalulu (Injured), Juan Cabal (Injured), Milik (Injured)
Questionable: Cambiaso (Injured)
Como vs Juventus Prediction
The home team come into this one on the back of a 2-0 defeat away to a strong Bologna side in their most recent outing at Renato Dall’Ara due to goals from Lorenzo De Silvestri and Giovanni Fabbian with Alieu Fadera sent off mid-way through the first-half. Juventus do have an upcoming UEFA Champions League knockout playoff round tie against PSV Eindhoven coming up in a few days and that distraction will give Como a chance to take advantage here, although both teams scoring remains the best bet with Juve still favourites.
