Como Preview: Cesc’s Como

Como are an ambitious club and, following their promotion last season, have spent quite heavily in both transfer windows with Cesc Fabregas now getting a real tune out of his players as they seek a top-half finish in the final month of the campaign.

They earned themselves a third successive victory last weekend as they defeated Lecce by three goals to nil at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare in Apulia. Former Real Betis winger Assane Diao notched a brace in that game, whilst Edoardo Goldaniga notched the other.

Genoa Preview: Vieira’s Genoa

Genoa replaced Alberto Gilardino with former Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira during the November international break and they have, fairly surprisingly given Vieira’s reputation, focused on locking down their defence as they also move into the middle-of-the-table.

The visitors do come into this one on the back of a 12th defeat of the campaign as they suffered a 2-0 loss to Lazio at the Luigi Ferraris last weekend due to goals in either half from former Girona striker Valentin Castellanos and Senegal international Boulaye Dia.

Como Team News: Maximo Perrone suspended

Former Manchester City midfielder Maximo Perrone is among Como’s absentees for this weekend as he is missing through suspension, whilst the aforementioned Diao is now unavailable due to a foot injury.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Butez; Vojvoda, Goldaniga, Kempf, Alberto Moreno; Da Cunha, Caqueret, Alli; Ikone, Douvikas, Diao

Unavailable: Dossena (Injured), Maximo Perrone (Suspended), Sergi Roberto (Injured), Diao (Injured)

Questionable: Alex Valle (Injured)

Genoa Team News: Otoa suspended

Genoa defender Sebastian Otoa is unavailable for Genoa this weekend as he missing through suspension. As well as that, they are also definitely without key Juventus loanee midfielder Fabio Miretti, as he is unavailable due to a shoulder injury.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Leali; Ahanor, De Winter, Johan Vasquez, Caricol; Norton-Cuffy, Masini, Frendrup, Thorsby; Pinamonti, Vitinha

Unavailable: Otoa (Suspended), Miretti (Injured), Balotelli (Out of favour)

Questionable: Matturro (Injured), Zanoli (Injured), Malinovskiy (Injured), Ekuban (Injured), Cornet (Injured)

Como vs Genoa Prediction

This is a bit of a clash of styles between two former teammates as Cesc Fabregas’ confident Como side will seek to get themselves on the front foot for this one, whilst Patrick Vieira’s Genoa have had attacking issues, both in terms of personnel and style, throughout the campaign. Como are favourites for this one to try and make it four successive victories in Serie A by Lake Como.

Como vs Genoa Tip: Como to win
