Como Preview: Cesc’s Como

Last season, Como gained promotion to the top-flight officially led by Oisin Roberts, who has returned back to being Head of Development with Cesc Fabregas completing his coaching badges and now officially in charge of a Como side that were extremely ambitious with some big name arrivals over the summer.

They have been entertaining to watch with Cesc Fabregas’ style of football. Their 12 matches in Serie A so far this season have consisted of 36 goals. They are now on a six-match winless run of form in Italy’s top-flight and they were pegged back to a 1-1 draw in Genoa a couple of weeks ago with Andrea Pinamonti scoring a 92nd minute equaliser for the Genovese in that match.

Fiorentina Preview: In-form Fiorentina

Following the departure of Vincenzo Italiano to Bologna after he had managed to get them to reach the final of the UEFA Europa Conference League in successive seasons, Fiorentina started the season slowly with the appointment of former Monza boss Raffaele Palladino but I Viola have been much-improved as the season has gone on and they are very much involved in a Serie A title race.

They begin this weekend’s round of fixtures sitting a point behind Napoli at the top-of-the-table after 12 matches of the campaign. They come into this one on the back of a comfortable 3-1 defeat of Hellas Verona at the Artemio Franchi a couple of weeks ago with Italy international striker Moise Kean notching a hat-trick in that match.

Como Team News: Several injuries

The home team are dealing with a few injury concerns as they take on Fiorentina as key signings from the summer, Sergi Roberto and Maximo Perrone are sidelined.

As well as those two summer signings, Como are without defensive duo Alessandro Gabrielloni and Luca Mazzitelli due to respective injury issues.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Pepe Reina; Goldaniga, Dossena, Kempf, Alberto Moreno; Engelhardt, Da Cunha; Strefezza, Nico Paz, Fadera; Cutrone

Unavailable: Gabrielloni (Injured), Mazzittelli (Injured), Sergi Roberto (Injured), Maximo Perrone (Injured)

Questionable:

Fiorentina Team News: Couple of key issues

Summer signing Albert Gudmundsson, who joined Fiorentina for from Genoa a few months ago, is still unavailable for I Viola due to a hamstring injury.

As well as the absence of Gudmundsson, Fiorentina are missing Morocco international Amir Richardson, whilst Daniel Cataldo is also an injury doubt for this one.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): David de Gea; Dodo, Comuzzo, Ranieri, Gosens; Bove, Adli; Colpani, Beltran, Sottil; Kean

Unavailable: Richardson (Injured), Gudmundsson (Injured)

Questionable: Cataldi (Injured)

Como vs Fiorentina Prediction

Como have been a very entertaining team to watch this season and, despite the fact they have managed just two victories in their opening 12 matches, will believe they have shown enough to believe they can avoid the drop this season. They take on a Fiorentina side that are free scoring with a fluent style of football and I Viola are the firm favourites for what should be a high-scoring affair by Lake Como this weekend.

Como vs Fiorentina Tip: Fiorentina to win & over 2.5 goals
