Cody Durden: 33-year-old coming off first Performance of the Night display

Cody Durden (17-6-1) is fighting for the fourth time in less than a year and he will be high on confidence after a submission win last time out. After suffering successive losses including his first TKO loss, Durden stepped up on a weeks’ notice to face Matt Schell in September and he produced a Performance of the Night display. That will give him good belief coming into this bout as he looks to round of 2024 in style.

Joshua Van: Myanmar star looking for back-to-back win

Joshua Van (11-2) is one of the up-and-coming talents in the flyweight division and the 23-year-old is coming off an outstanding win over Edgar Chairez at UFC 306 by unanimous decision. That was an excellent response following the first knockout of his career which came against Charles Johnson in July and halted his eight-fight winning streak. Van will be looking to build some momentum now to help him rise up the rankings but Durden will provide a stern test of his credentials.

Cody Durden vs Joshua Van Prediction

This is a really good fight at UFC 310 and we completely get why the UFC matchmakers have made this bout.

Durden is as tough as they come and a really solid wrestler that will grind it out against any opponent.

Van is a dynamic talent with good power and energy who has blown away a number of opponents in his relatively short career.

The contrasting styles makes it a really fascinating watch but we can only see one outcome here and that is the veteran wrestler imposing his will on the younger Van.

Van’s only loss in the UFC came by knockout at the hands of Charles Johnson in July – the same man that Durden dominated with his wrestling to win a unanimous decision just a year earlier.

We question Van’s levels and in the fights where he cannot overwhelm and overpower his opponents with his intensity and high volume, he may struggle especially against strong wrestlers. That is what Durden is and we favour him to grind out the victory here.

Prediction: Cody Durden to win
