Coco Gauff vs Paula Badosa Prediction

Coco Gauff experienced her first wobble of this year’s Australian Open when she dropped the first set against Belinda Bencic in the fourth round, but the number three seed rallied after that and dropped just three games in winning the next two sets.

The 2023 US Open winner, who reached the semi-finals in Melbourne last year, has now won her first nine matches of 2025 and is enjoying an 11-match winning streak in Singles overall.

Paul Badosa has likewise dropped just a single set en route to the quarter-finals, in her third-round win over Marta Kostyuk, but she had less trouble in the last 16 with a straight-sets victory over Serbia’s Olga Danilovic.

This is now a second consecutive Grand Slam quarter-final for the Spaniard, who also reached the last eight in the US Open last August in what has been a welcome return to form for the former world number two.

Gauff and Badosa have met six times in tour, with three wins apiece. Although Gauff triumphed in their two contests in 2024 – in Rome and Beijing – both went to a deciding set and it would be no surprise to see the same occur here. Gauff should be favoured, but she will not have it all her own way against an opponent who has been produced a high level of tennis in Melbourne.
