Coco Gauff vs Jasmine Paolini prediction

Coco Gauff made a triumphant return to clay with an emphatic win over lucky loser Ella Seidel. 

The 21-year-old American’s strongest surface on tour in terms of winning percentages is on the dirt and she made short work of the German underdog to triumph 6-1 6-1 in just 57 minutes.

The former US Open champion will now face Jasmine Paolini in what should be an entertaining baseline battle. 

The 29-year-old Italian set up a third career meeting with Gauff after she brushed aside Jule Niemeier 6-1 7-5 to back up her fine run in Miami and routine opener in Stuttgart against Eva Lys. 

Gauff has won their previous two encounters, but they were both before Paolini’s breakout 2024. 

If Gauff’s serve and forehand don’t hold up under pressure, the Italian’s counter punching and resistance could cause problems. Paolini has had the better form of late and it may well go the distance.
