Coco Gauff vs Ella Seidel prediction

Coco Gauff will hope the switch to clay will see an upturn in fortune after a disappointing Sunshine Double. 

The American has struggled to hit top gear in 2025 with a quarter-final run in the Australian Open her best result in recent months. 

The 21-year-old has won four of her last six matches after three defeats on the spin, with two of her losses to players ranked just outside the world’s top 50.

That will give some hope to world number 124 Ella Seidel, who took down veteran Tatjana Maria 3-6 7-6 6-4 in an all-German affair.

The 20-year-old qualifier is a relative novice at this level, although clay is definitely her favoured surface having won several lower-tier titles on the dirt. 

This will be the first meeting between Seidel and Gauff with unfamiliarity being the only real danger for the seeded star, who is of course a former French Open finalist. 

Gauff has endured a few shocks already this year, but this won’t be another one as the step up in class will be a tall order for the German.
