Ciryl Gane: Additional text here
Ciryl Gane (12-2) returns to action after more than one year on the sidelines as this is his first fight since he TKO’d Serghei Spivac in September 2023. This fight was due to take place in October but was postponed with Volkov’s knee injury but Gane will be raring to go here. His inactivity has led to many people forgetting about just how good he is but only Francis Ngannou and Jon Jones have beaten him in his professional MMA career. Gane is a high-quality operator and he will be looking to make a statement here to get back into title shot contention.
Alexander Volkov: Vet looks to avenge 2021 loss to Gane
Alexander Volkov (38-10) continues to defy the years and perform at an incredible high level as he comes into this bout riding a four-fight winning streak. He beat Sergei Pavlovich last time out by unanimous decision and it is no surprise to see the 36-year-old ranked third in the heavyweight division. Volkov’s defeats in the UFC have come against good quality opponents with Tom Aspinall being the last man to defeat him in March 2022 and it was Cyril Gane prior to that in June 2021. Three and a half years later, Volkov gets his chance to avenge that loss here at UFC 310.
Ciryl Gane vs Alexander Volkov Prediction
Ciryl Gane and Alexander Volkov finally meet for a rematch a couple of months later than initially scheduled. They were supposed to meet in October but Volkov’s knee problem delayed the bout so finally they get the chance to meet again in Las Vegas.
The knee injury has to be something of a concern for Volkov coming into this one and how much it has impacted his training remains to be seen.
He will have to be at his best to beat Gane here as the Frenchman is looking in fine shape coming into this one.
Gane has the knowledge that he beat Volkov by unanimous decision back in June 2021. Over three years later, he has only improved since then and Volkov has only gotten older.
Those are key factors in Gane’s favour and we fully expect that to show through in their performances. The Frenchman should get the win here and consolidate his position as the best heavyweight not named Jon Jones or Tom Aspinall.
Prediction: Ciryl Gane to win
