Chris Wakelin vs Mark Allen prediction

On his fourth Crucible appearance, Chris Wakelin has made it through to the second round in Sheffield for the first time in his career after eliminating former champion Neil Robertson in the pair’s opener.

Qualifier Wakelin, who reached the final of the International Open in November, held off a fine comeback from Robertson and held his nerve in the vital moments to seal a 10-8 success.

The Englishman will now face another seed, Mark Allen, who was put through his paces by the talented Fan Zhengyi in the first round.

The Norther Irishman was 3-0 behind in the early stages but showed all his fighting qualities to eventually come through 10-6.

Clearly not as fluent best right now, Allen will likely have to dig deep again here if he is to hold off Wakelin, who is bound to be a confident man after eliminating Robertson. This won’t be a landslide either way.
